[ARCHIVED] Fares are Back in 2022, but Many are Lower Than Before

Seeing is Believing. Image of fare box with fare being inserted.

After six months of free fares, the Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority (StanRTA) is introducing new fares beginning January 2, 2022. We know this will be a big change for the community but hope riders will be pleasantly surprised by some of the permanent discounts we've been able to implement.

2022 fares will apply to both former Modesto Area Express (MAX) and Stanislaus Regional Transit (StaRT) services (now The S), and include a permanent free fare for riders aged 0 to 18 and replace the fixed-route single-ride fare with a 1-Day pass for $2.00. Dial-A-Ride fares have also been reduced to $2.50. The S will also honor MAX and StaRT passes that are unused and have not been activated. We encourage you to visit the StanRTA fares page on the website to review all available passes.
