What is Fare Capping
Fare capping limits how much you pay for all your trip in a day, week or month. Once your pass purchases and activations in a day, week or month add up to the value of a higher value pass you will automatically be provided the higher value pass to use for the remaining period of time.
Riders don’t have to register for anything; the Token Transit app tracks purchases and automatically gives riders credit for the smaller trips and passes purchased and applies the credit to longer-period passes!
Members of our community use Modesto Area Express (MAX) each day to access needed supplies, employment, and medical attention, yet many do not have the resources to purchase a 7-Day or 31-Day pass which allows frequent riders to save on travel. With the Token Transit app, MAX automatically gives riders credit for the smaller trips and passes they buy to earn a longer-period pass! For example, riders who purchase and use one-way and one-day passes will earn their way toward a seven-day pass with each purchase.
